When the Chevy Silverado 1500 just won’t do, there’s always the more powerful Chevy Silverado 2500. The toughest jobs need a durable, rugged pickup, and the Silverado 2500 delivers every time. But just how much can it tow and carry?

In this Chevy Silverado 2500 towing capacity deep dive, we’ll look at the specs, the engines, and what this behemoth of a truck can do for you. Keep reading to see how any jobs you have on the horizon will get easier with the 2500.

2025 Chevy 2500 HD Specs

The 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 ships standard with a massive 6.6L, V-8 engine that makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. But the fun doesn’t stop there. The available Duramax diesel engine is the same size, 6.6L, V-8, but this version makes 470 horsepower and a whopping 975 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the engine you choose, it’ll be mapped to a 10-speed automatic transmission and your choice of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

There are several different configurations of the Chevy Silverado 2500 to choose from in terms of cab size and bed length. The configuration you choose will have an impact on the Chevy Silverado HD’s towing and payload numbers. The configurations include:

  • Regular Cab with Long Bed and rear-wheel drive
  • Double Cab with Long Bed
  • Regular Cab with Long Bed and four-wheel drive
  • Crew Cab with Standard Bed and four-wheel drive
  • Crew Cab with Long Bed and four-wheel drive

The Chevy Silverado 2500 Regular Cab fits three passengers, while the Double and Crew Cabs can fit up to six passengers. With that said, the Crew Cab is roomier, especially in the rear seats.
