Chevy LT vs. LTZ: What’s the Difference?

Have you been looking into a new Chevy Silverado lately? If so, you’ve likely noticed the different trim levels, and two trims are suspiciously close in name to each other: the LT and LTZ. While similarly named, the Chevy Silverado LT and Chevy Silverado LTZ are quite different. Chevy Silverado LT

The Chevy Silverado LT is in the middle of the pack when it comes to the trim lineup. It has some additional features that the lower trims don’t have, but it lacks some of the extra comfort, tech, and power features of the higher-end trims. The standard engine on the Silverado LT is a turbo 2.7L four-cylinder engine worth 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. However, if you wanted more power, you can upgrade to either the 5.3L V-8 or the 3.0L Duramax turbo diesel inline-six engine.
Rear-wheel drive is the base drivetrain. You can also opt for the available four-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive will get you slightly better towing capabilities, but four-wheel drive will give you better handling in inclement weather.
The LT comes with a manual tailgate, but you can upgrade to the powered version. Both the LT and the LTZ have LED headlights, but the LTZ gets the IntelliBeam system. Lastly, for major Chevy Silverado LT exterior features, you’ll have standard 17” wheels.
Inside the cabin of the Silverado LT, the first things you’ll notice are the standard cloth seats, the 13.4” infotainment system, and the 12.3” digital display of gauges. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard connections, and you’ll get to enjoy your music on the standard 6-speaker audio system. Other helpful tech in the LT trim is the rear parking sensors, forward collision warnings, and auto emergency braking.
Chevy Silverado LTZ

The Chevy Silverado LTZ, by comparison, is one of the higher-level trims. While you need to upgrade to a stronger engine on the LT, the LTZ comes standard with the more powerful 5.3L V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. There are two other available options: the Duramax diesel or a powerhouse 6.2L V-8. The standard transmission is a 10-speed automatic, but you still have a choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Properly equipped, the LTZ can tow up to 13,300 lbs.
Since the LTZ is a higher trim, you can expect to see more luxurious and desirable features. For the Silverado LTZ exterior, the standard wheels are 20” polished aluminum. The tailgate is powered standard; no manual available.
The LTZ interior features leather seats with heating and ventilation; the driver’s seat is a 10-way powered model with memory settings, something missing from the LT. The infotainment screen is the same size, but has native navigation baked in. The driver information center is the same as the LT, but you have more customization options in the LTZ. The audio system gets a noticeable upgrade as well, with a 7-speaker Bose outfit.
The LTZ gets front and rear parking sensors, and you get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts added in as well.
Chevy LT vs. LTZ Price Difference
As you might expect after reading all of this, the LTZ is a bit pricier than the LT. However, with all of the power and luxury features you get, it makes sense that the cost would be higher. In any case, here are the numbers:

- Chevy Silverado LTZ: $58,000 starting MSRP
